Infrastructure Engineer

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Barclays, you will support the delivery of Location Strategy projects within plan, budget, and governance standards. You will build and maintain well-tested, maintainable features across frontend and backend systems, following architectural guidelines and secure coding practices. Your responsibilities include implementing APIs, data access layers, and UI components, writing automated tests (unit and integration), and participating in code reviews. You will adopt AI-assisted tools to improve productivity such as code completion, test generation, and documentation while adhering to team standards. Working closely with Senior Engineers, you will refine designs, estimate work, and deliver in small, frequent releases using CI/CD pipelines. You will contribute to observability through logs, metrics, and traces, apply basic SRE practices, and help triage issues to continuously improve reliability. Additional accountabilities include incident management and monitoring of IT infrastructure performance, developing automation to reduce manual intervention using scripting and coding, implementing security measures to protect infrastructure against cyber-attacks and vulnerabilities, and collaborating cross-functionally with product managers and architects to deliver scalable, reliable infrastructure solutions.
