Infrastructure Engineer

As an Infrastructure Engineer at Barclays, you will support the successful delivery of Location Strategy projects to plan, budget, and agreed quality and governance standards. You will build and maintain infrastructure platforms and products that support applications and data systems using hardware, software, networks, and cloud computing platforms. Key responsibilities include building well-tested, maintainable features across frontend and backend following architectural guidelines and secure coding practices, implementing APIs, data access, and UI components, and writing automated tests. You will adopt AI-assist tools for improved productivity including code completion, test generation, and documentation. Working with Senior Engineers, you will refine designs, estimate work, and deliver in small, frequent releases with CI/CD. You will contribute to observability (logs, metrics, traces) and basic SRE practices, help triage issues, and continuously improve system reliability. Additional duties include incident management to drive down mean time to resolution, developing automation to reduce manual intervention, implementing security configurations to protect infrastructure against threats, and cross-functional collaboration with product managers and architects.
