Storage & Backup Site Reliability Engineer

As a Storage & Backup Site Reliability Engineer at Barclays, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. You will leverage demonstrated expertise in Block Storage technologies including SAN, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, and zoning to troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and availability issues end-to-end. You will work hands-on with File Storage platforms (NAS protocols such as NFS/SMB, snapshots, replication, scalability) and optimize performance and resilience. A core part of the role involves enterprise backup and recovery engineering, including backup policy design, retention management, restore validation, disaster recovery readiness, and operational governance for mission-critical workloads. You will apply SRE principles such as error budgets, SLO/SLI definition, toil reduction, and automation-first operations to drive measurable reliability improvements. Building observability through defining metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting strategies for storage and backup services is essential. You will also automate storage and backup operations using Python, PowerShell, or API integrations, and collaborate across infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, and service management teams to deliver outcomes and influence operational best practices.
