Risk Sanctioner
As a Risk Sanctioner at Barclays, you will assess and approve or decline credit applications based on established credit policies, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements. You will analyse financial information, evaluate borrower creditworthiness, and recommend appropriate credit terms and conditions to ensure responsible lending practices.
Your key responsibilities include reviewing lending applications, financial statements, and credit reports to determine repayment capacity. You will monitor approved lending portfolios, identifying potential risks and early warning signs of delinquency. You will evaluate each application's risk profile by considering industry trends, borrower financials, collateral, and market conditions.
You will exercise autonomous decision-making in a commercial and client-focused environment, applying personal judgement in the smart application of lending criteria and guidelines. Your role involves timely identification of credit deterioration to support clients experiencing financial stress, agreeing on appropriate strategies for turnaround or managed exit while protecting the bank from credit and reputational risk.
You will lead a team performing complex tasks, set objectives, coach employees, and appraise performance. You will collaborate closely with other functions and business divisions, contributing to policy development and taking responsibility for operational effectiveness. Strong financial statement analysis skills and detailed knowledge of underwriting, risk/reward principles, scoring models, and risk governance processes are essential.
