Head of Platform Engineering - Underwriting

As the Head of Platform Engineering for Underwriting at Fractal, you will lead and scale the platform engineering function focused on building robust underwriting technology solutions. You will be responsible for defining the technology roadmap, driving platform strategy, and overseeing the development of scalable, reliable systems that power underwriting workflows. Your role involves managing and growing a high-performing engineering team, establishing engineering excellence through best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment. You will work closely with product, data science, and business teams to ensure platform capabilities align with underwriting domain requirements. Additionally, you will drive cloud infrastructure decisions, optimize system performance, and champion modern engineering practices including microservices, event-driven architectures, and continuous delivery pipelines.
